Other Chassis for Cal Kestis

Lukyanov Oggdo Killer (2020) Master Chassis

The Master Chassis is a fully removable core, featuring a Crystal Chamber with moving components to change the aspect of what is seen through the hilt windows.
When in single hilt, a chassis extension can be added either to add another 18650 removable battery or more NPXL accent strips to light up the rear broken section of the hilt.

Introduction

  • Disclaimer

GOTH-3Designs cannot be held responsible for any mistakes made by DIYers during their install. You must have a good understanding of what you’re doing, of the components used and the safety measures associated to them. Always wear protective gear when working on install (gloves, eye protection, …), GOTH-3Designs cannot be held responsible in case of accident.

  • Note #1

Always use the smallest wires to make your install easier. There can be big differences between one wire type and another for the same AWG specs. PTFE Wires with the smallest OD are recommended such as those sold at The Saber Armory. A good wire management is also required, routing wires properly helps a lot saving space.

  • Note #2

These instructions will not cover how to wire the soundboard, make sure to learn how to by reading the manual. We have also typical soundboards wiring available in the Padawan Tutorials. Always test your install along the way! Verifying that everything works after important steps is better than having to dismount everything because something wasn’t wired properly.

Chapter 1 – Prepare the parts

  • Step 1 – Separate the NPXL Holder from the main chassis

Step 2 – Separate the Speaker covers from the CC part

    Step 3 – Cut the 1.5mmOD rods (4 x 44mm)

Step 4 – Test the assembly

Chapter 2 – Install the front connector

  • Step 5 – install the Female Bulgin Brass Pins.
The two 10A pins insert from inside, and the 1A pin insert from outside. The pins are to be glued (E6000 recommended).
Clean the holes of any print dust if necessary before inserting the pins.
Remember which pin is what (for the Neopixel pins pos and neg) as the male connector will need to match.

    Install recommendation:
For both the Neopixel Pos and Neg wires, we recommend to double the wiring => 1 x 22AWG wire (main) + 1 x 30AWG wire (which will feed power to the CC accent pixel). This avoid having to route the CC wires through the chassis.

Step 6 – Install the 4mm height brass tactile switch

Step 7 – Route the wires through the dedicated channels.
There are 2 channels to pass the wires, which provides enough space for the Neopixel and switch wires.
Add a second data line for the CC accent pixel.

Chapter 3 – Install the Crystal Chamber

  • Step 8 – Assemble the crystal holder parts (to be glued together)

    Step 9 – Glue two 2mmODx1mm magnets

Step 10 – Glue the Crystal.
Then wire the CC accent pixel with the wires from the pins (pos and neg) and the second data line.

Step 11 – Glue the assembly on the chassis, using the 1.5mmOD rods as guides.

    Step 12 – Glue 4 x 2mmODx2mm magnets on the chassis

Step 13 – Glue 4 x 2mmODx1mm magnets on the CC part, respecting the polarity with the ones on the chassis.

Step 14 – Glue the 2mmODx1mm magnets in the front of each crystal cage part.
Then glue 2 x 2mmODx2mm magnets on the back.

All magnets must respect the polarity to match with the rest of the CC parts.

Step 15 – Install and glue to the 1.5mmOD rods.

Chapter 4 – Install the electronic components

  • Step 16 – Wire and insert the speaker in place

Step 17 – Glue the first speaker covers, and ensure the speaker is centered correctly.
(Bend the metal speaker covers into shape if necessary, they must match the speaker shape under).

Step 18 – Wire and install the battery contacts

Step 19 – Install the kill switch

Step 20 – Install the soundboard

    Install recommendation:
Whereas a chassis add-on will be used or not, we recommend using a PCB (“blade side”) in the dedicated slot to bridge wires easily.

If the battery add-on is chosen, install the 4-poles PCB (linked in the other parts section)
    – Battery + and Battery – on the two outer tracks
    – Neopixel – and Data on the two inner tracks (will feed the neopixel accent led at the end of the battery holder).
If the neopixel strip add-on is chosen, install a normal neopixel blade side PCB (17.8mmOD)

Step 21 – Glue the 2mmODx2mm magnets on the chassis and cover

Chapter 5 – Final steps

  • Step 22 – Install the Male Bulgin Pins in the Neopixel pogo-pin connector holder.
The two 10A pins insert from inside, and the 1A pin insert from outside. The pins are to be glued (E6000 recommended). Clean the holes of any print dust if necessary before inserting the pins.
(again, make sure to respect to pos and neg polarity to match the female connector)

Step 23 – Install the Neopixel pogo-pin connector.

Step 24 – Drill and tap a retention screw hole where indicated (will serve to lock the Neopixel connector holder.

Step 25 – Insert in the upper hilt both chassis and connector holder.
Make sure they are properly connected and lock the Neopixel connector holder with the retention screw
