Here are our DIY instructions for KR-OR ECO Hero saber kit.
These chassis are fully removable and easy to install. ECO and ECO-CC chassis have a similar construction and are installed the same way (with extra steps for the ECO-CC crystal chamber).

Introduction

  • Disclaimer

GOTH-3Designs cannot be held responsible for any mistakes made by DIYers during their install. You must have a good understanding of what you’re doing, of the components used and the safety measures associated to them. Always wear protective gear when working on install (gloves, eye protection, …), GOTH-3Designs cannot be held responsible in case of accident.

  • Note #1

Always use the smallest wires to make your install easier. There can be big differences between one wire type and another for the same AWG specs. PTFE Wires with the smallest OD are recommended such as those sold at The Saber Armory. A good wire management is also required, routing wires properly helps a lot saving space.

  • Note #2

These instructions will not cover how to wire the soundboard, make sure to learn how to by reading the manual. We have also typical soundboards wiring available in the Padawan Tutorials. Always test your install along the way! Verifying that everything works after important steps is better than having to dismount everything because something wasn’t wired properly.

Quick Install Guide – Part 1 – Electronic component setup

  • Step 1 –  Wire and install the battery contacts. The positive contact is to be glued in its slot.

Step 2 – Wire the and glue the kill switch in its slot (note: one wire goes to the positive battery wire bridge, the other to the soundboard positive pad).

Step 3 –  Wire and glue the 28mm bass speaker.

Step 4 – Wire and glue the switch PCB on its slot.

Step 5 – Install the soundboard. Test the install and then glue the soundboard in its place.

Step 6 – Wire and glue the NPXL PCB (SCW short pins, note: the blade side PCB can also be installed here, with the pins inside the hilt instead => this prevent risk of pins contact with metal and shorts while playing with the chassis).

Quick Install Guide – Part 2 – ECO-CC Crystal Chamber Install

  • Step 5 –  Wire and install the soundboard.

Step 6 – Cut the 1.5mmOD rod in 4 segments of 57mm each. Insert and glue them in the chassis.

Step 7 –  Add and glue the Crystal Chamber part.

Step 8 – There is a channel to hide all wires from the soundboard. Then, insert and glue the single pixel.

Step 9 – Wire and glue the NPXL PCB (SCW short pins, note: the blade side PCB can also be installed here, with the pins inside the hilt instead => this prevent risk of pins contact with metal and shorts while playing with the chassis).

Step 10 – Glue the 2mmx2mm magnets in their slots on the chassis and cover.

Step 11 – Glue the crystal on the cover. This allows easy access to the board USB and SD card.

Quick Install Guide – Part 3 – Neopixel connector install

  • Step 1 – Wire and glue the NPXL blade side PCB in the grenade section holder. (As mentioned before, the short pogo-pins can also be installed here, with the blade pcb on the chassis).

Step 2 – Glue the holder at the top of the hilt grenade section.

Step 3a – Wire the hilt side pcb, glue it on its holder, then glue the holder in the emitter (feeding the excess wires through the tube).

Step 3b – Alternatively, the hilt heatsink can be installed and the hilt side PCB installed in the alternate holder. This gives more stability to the 1″ blade, but the blade will require a custom recessed blade side PCB.
