Introduction

  • Disclaimer

GOTH-3Designs cannot be held responsible for any mistakes made by DIYers during their install. You must have a good understanding of what you’re doing, of the components used and the safety measures associated to them. Always wear protective gear when working on install (gloves, eye protection, …), GOTH-3Designs cannot be held responsible in case of accident.

  • Note #1

Always use the smallest wires to make your install easier. There can be big differences between one wire type and another for the same AWG specs. PTFE Wires with the smallest OD are recommended such as those sold at The Saber Armory. A good wire management is also required, routing wires properly helps a lot saving space.

  • Note #2

These instructions will not cover how to wire the soundboard, make sure to learn how to by reading the manual. We have also typical soundboards wiring available in the Padawan Tutorials. Always test your install along the way! Verifying that everything works after important steps is better than having to dismount everything because something wasn’t wired properly.

  • Note #3

The following instructions are created from the Prototype install. Some very small adjustments were done on the final chassis and the pictures might not reflect exactly the final product.

Other parts details

– 2 x 4mmOD tube – 62mm length
– 2 x 4mmOD tube – 50mm length
– 2 x 1.5mmOD rod – 167mm length
– 2 x 1.5mmOD rod – 55mm length
– 12 x 2mmx2mm magnets
– 2 x 2020 pixel strips of 10 pixels
– 2 x 3.5mm tall brass tactile switches

DIY Build Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the parts, rods and tubes (as per listed in the other parts details block on the right of the page).

Part 1 and Part 3 have to be separated / cut where indicated below

Step 2: Install (glue) the 2 x 2020 accent pixels strips

Step 3: Add part 2, and lock it by gluing the 4mmOD tubes (62mm length).

Step 4: Add the side parts taken from part 3 and lock them with the 1.5mmOD rods (167mm length)

Step 5: Manage and pass the wires through the tubes

Step 6: Wire the positive battery contact (with 2 x 22awg wires as shown). Then glue it in its slot. The long wire goes back in the tube while the short one will power the neopixel PCB.

Once glued in, the 2020 strips positive wire is soldered on top.

Step 7: Wire and install the NPXL PCB. The hilt side (short pins) or blade side PCB can be used – using a blade side PCB will avoid risk of shorts if the pins come in contact with metal.
Glue the PCB in its slot.

Step 8: Manage the 2020 trips wires (hide them into the chassis), then glue the ring from part 2 on the front.

Step 9: Wire and insert the negative battery contact (bend the prongs as shown to ensure proper lock inside the chassis).

Step 10: Manage the wires to allow them passage through the CC tubes

Step 11: Glue the crystal in it’s CC inserts, and then glue the insert into the Crystal Chamber part 4. Then add and wire the single pixel.

Step 12: Insert the Crystal Chamber and feed the wires through the side tube including the switches wires.

Step 13: Glue the Crystal Chamber on part 1, then add and glue the short 1.5mmOD rods.

Step 14: Add the CC door, and glue the 4 x 2mmx2mm magnets.

Step 15: Install the 3.5mm tall brass tactile switches.

Step 16: Install (glue) and wire the OLED screen.

Step 17: Wire and glue the speaker in its slot.

Step 18: Glue the kill switch in its slot.

Step 19: Glue the rotative part on the motor prong (being careful not to glue it on the motor shaft). Then insert and glue the motor in it’s slot.

Step 20: Add the OLED cover and join both chassis halves while carefully managing the wires on both sides.

Step 21: Wire the battery wire on the kill switch.

    Step 22: Install the soundboard.

Step 23: Wire and install the hilt side PCB in the emitter using it’s holder.

Step 24: Wire and install the grenade section PCB on its holder, then glue the holder at the bottom of the grenade section.

    Done!
