All-in-1 chassis for any 1″ ID empty hilts such as KRS Hilts ⇒ all-in-1-1-quot-id-sabers-krs-hilts
3- Electronic components:
⇒ Soundboard, check at Plecter Labs (also sold at TCSS) for Nano Biscotte.
⇒ Battery, 18650 removable and protected battery only
⇒ Wires, 30awg wires are recommended on most our 3D Printed chassis. We are buying them from this eBay seller.
KR-Sabers Etsy shop also sells the main component to build these DIY KRS hilts. Check KR Etsy Shop for the following:
⇒ Battery Holder, Keystone for 18650 battery
⇒ Main Led, Tri-Cree XPE-2
⇒ Switch, 12mm switches
⇒ Speaker, 20mm Speaker
The blade is the last part of your saber, they are usually made from PolyCarbonate tubes + tip. Complete blades can be found from various locations.
⇒ 1″ OD blades (for TCSS and TGS Blade Holders): Ex USA: TCSS, Ex EU: JQ-Sabers
You can also make your own using TCSS blade supplies.
When the blade is removed, a blade plug is commonly used to block the light (security and aesthetic) ⇒ Example in the shop.
(step by step)
Note 1: 30awg wires and smaller are mandatory for this install (30awg for main wires and 32awg for accent leds and switches are highly recommended)…. Oh and definitely use colored wires to make your life easier.
Note 2: These instructions will not cover how to wire the NB3, make sure to learn how to by reading Plecter Labs manual.
Note 3: This instructions will details the install as much as possible. GOTH-3Designs cannot be held responsible for any mistakes made by DIYers tho. Thanks!
Step 1- (optional) there are 3 accent led holes (for 3mm leds), you can thus install one or more accent led to light up the chassis.
Step 2- Wire and install the speaker. A tiny bit of Super Glue can be used to secure the speaker (not too much, you want to be able to remove it if necessary).
Step 3- Prepare your wires, and insert them into the dedicated channel as shown in the pictures below
Notes: the channel is big enough for 30awg wires. The wires must still slide back and forth, so make sure nothing will block them once the battery holder is installed.
Step 4- Wire and install the battery holder. I used Super Glue to secure the holder into the chassis.
Tips: As soon as inserted / glued into the chassis, insert you battery to properly expend the battery holder. That will make sure the holder is properly glued to the chassis walls.
Step 4- Wire the NB3. Test your install before inserting the soundboard into the dedicated space.
Step 5- Insert the soundboard, it should look like the following pictures:
Step 6- (recommended) secure the wires. I glued the heatshrink wrap to the chassis.
Step 7- (optional) paint your hilt.
Step 8- Install your switch and led module.
Step 9- (optional) add leather wrap to your hilt.
